Together    but    Alone

Since the pandemic hit, our house has become more than just a house: most of us need to use our home as a workspace during the day as quarantine hits and isolation is required.

   Working alone is possible when we use our home as a workspace, but a lot of the time, people need to share the working space with their co-residents. Which, here, I will talk about 2 people sharing working space.

When two people need to share a space, the interaction usually differs based on their relationships or the level of their intimacy. Which also affects the productivity they have for their work.

1. Working with a stranger: least intimacy, least interaction, most productivity
2. Working with a friend: more intimacy, more interaction, less productivity
3. Working with a lover: most intimacy, more interaction, less productivity

However, when people share a working space, even if they interact physically, they might be emotionally isolated. As each person focuses on their work and screen. Therefore, within isolation from another human being, there might still be isolation in oneself (especially when the intimacy level is low).

    I, then, want to create a space where people can be isolated together comfortably, having a physical interaction but are emotionally isolated. A space where they can focus on one's work with utmost productivity while staying together. In which the space should have the following:

1. A relaxed environment that is also good for concentration: a space that is not and is not too cold, has enough lightning, a fresh clean smell, with some ambiance sounds like the sound of the waves or rainfall for relaxing.
2. A enough space to feel comfortable staying with a stranger: by not having to be too close there might be less anxiety.
3. Furniture in which two people with higher levels of intimacy could sit down together while working: it might be a sofa with a screen to work or a bed with a working area, to create a workspace that is productive and yet, they can interact with each other and feel comfort.

A co-working space capsule in the structure of a bunk bed. The first floor is a focus space, and the second floor is a break time space. The capsule is capable of 1 person, and the time limit of use is up to 24 hours.

The first floor has all the initial needs for work and studies, like a chair (bed), a table, and an outlet. Meanwhile, the second floor has a vending machine for snacks and diapers, a place to sit and eat, and a private space to change the diaper.

The capsule has the flexibility of ways to sit based on the human body and movements;

and it manages isolation and interaction within one capsule or between one capsule to

another

The capsule can be deconstructed and put together any time for convenience.

The capsule can be connected to one another creating a sense of being together but still alone. The capsule can be display in shopping malls or any place to create a movable co-working space.
